Swift Institute of Nursing

The Swift Institute of Nursing (SION) is affiliated to Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot. The Institute is situated at Ghaggar Sarai, Rajpura. The institute is the outcome of the efforts put by Swift Fundamental Research and Education Society (SFRES) towards improving the healthcare services.
Various diploma and degree courses are offered by the SION. A student seeking career in the Nursing can get themselves enrolled in the following courses:

B.Sc. (Hons) in Nursing is yet another course offered by the Institute in collaboration with University of Bedfordshire, UK. The SION is aiming at providing moderate education to the students on international platforms. The Institute is focusing upon promoting professional education in the field of Nursing and to cater to the needs of the society at large. The location of the Institute will provide ample opportunity to the students belonging to the rural background of Patiala to take up nursing as their career. Facilities at SION
Students aspiring to take up nursing as their career, at Swift Institute of Nursing (SION), are provided with a large number of facilities and amenities. These facilities range from recreational room to updated laboratories. Practical knowledge is inculcated among the students of Nursing by providing them well equipped laboratories. The SION has various laboratories:

Fundamentals of Nursing Lab:
With the aim of helping students, of B.Sc. (N), GNM, Post basic nursing, to understand the practical role to be played by them in hospitals, the fundamentals of nursing lab was established. The lab help students in understating the basics of nursing care to patients that including the maintenance of patient’s personal hygiene needs, elementary needs and more.

Anatomy and Physiology Lab:
The lab is spread over an area of 1700 sq.ft. It is equipped with 3D models, charts and skeletons, which are used by the faculty to provide practical knowledge about subjects like Anatomy & Physiology, Medical Surgery Nursing. Provision of interactive digital learning for better understanding of the study has also been made.

Nutrition lab:
The lab covers an area of 1500 sq.ft. The lab is well equipped with latest technology to impart desired knowledge to B.Sc., GNM, and Post basic Nursing students. Food processor, refrigerator and other utensils with A-class working tables are used for the practical demonstration to the students.

Community Health Nursing Lab:
The lab is a replica of modern-cum-traditional community with all facilities required for field demonstration and orientation of students for the community exposure.

MCH Lab:
The lab is for diploma and degree students. It is well equipped with all the requisite articles of developing the skills of students for handling normal and complicated deliveries.

Computer lab:
The Institute has spacious computer lab with latest configuration. Facility of internet and printing is also available.

Library:
The library of the institute is enriched with literature including journals, magazines, news papers and books with latest editions. It has good collection of books related to medicine, surgery, nursing, general knowledge, biological sciences and social sciences.
